The 2026 World Cup kick-offs next Thursday, with co-hosts Mexico taking on South Africa at 8pm in Mexico City.
Following a number of requests, Louise Lawton has put together a 'LPS World Cup Special', and we are inviting all our members to please take part in this one-off competition - even if you're not a regular player, this is a great bit of fun and a great way to help raise funds for the Cricket Club.
With the hectic schedule, Louise has had to do some thinking in order to make the competition work effectively. And with the quick turnaround of fixtures, please be warned picks will need to be in as soon as possible in-between rounds!
So, briefly, the group phase has been split into 5 LPS games - you will need to pick a winner in the first LPS game in order to progress into the second, and so on. Once all the group phase games are complete, you will need to continue to pick a winner in each of the knock-out rounds to continue to progress. With the final and 3rd place play-off the 10th and final round.
But as usual, the rule is - you are only allowed to pick a team once - the only exception is if you progress into the latter rounds and you have already picked every team left, you are then allowed to choose a team for the second time.
Entry still costs £5 per player and picks need to be in by 6pm the evening before the first scheduled game from that round.
Attached to this article is a full list of rules and the World Cup games, sectioned into the LPS game numbers.
