Over the past few weeks, 3 senior players have left the club ahead of the new season.

𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗟 𝗛𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧𝗧
First team fast bowler Phil Hackett joined us ahead of our 2024 Premier League campaign, playing 21 times for the club, including 18 Premier League appearances.
He took 20 wickets at an average of 29.65, and also contributed 44 runs.

Phil will be moving abroad through work during this summer, so has decided not to return for the 2025 cricket season.

Another First Team player, Muhammad Atif, has been a mainstay at Sawley since 2015, apart from a brief spell away in 2017.
During that time, he has racked up 152 Sawley appearances, scoring 2315 runs and took 273 wickets at an average of 17.75.
His best figures of 7/28 were in May 2019 on West Park as Sawley dismantled Nutbrook for 60 all out. Atif also took 7 other 5-wicket-hauls during his time at the Club, and was a keyfigure of both our Promotion winning campaigns over the past 5 years.

Atif has gone on to pastures new, but has left his mark firmly in the Sawley CC record books.

Joining the club in the early part of 2024, experienced campaigner Gary Hickinbotham was a key figure of our 3rd team which dramatically improved their fortunes during the season to finish in the top half of the league.
Gary scored 471 runs during the season, at an average of over 40 – which included half centuries in his first 3 games of the season. He top scored with 71* against Rosehill Methodists in May.

Gary will be returning to his former club, Langley Mill, where he has taken up an exciting role as Cricket Manager at the club, along with continuing his playing career.

All 3 players were popular members at Sawley Cricket Club, and we thank them all for their contributions and service during their time at the club.

We wish them well for the future .

They will always be welcome back at West Park.
