This Saturday marks less than a month to go until the Cricket season is finally here – which means it’s that time once more to get our facilities in top order , ready for the fun to commence!

Our Annual Cricket ‘Get Set Day’ will be on Saturday 5th April 2025.

This is the day we literally do dust off the cobwebs and get our Pavilions in tip-top shape!

From 8.30am all members are requested to come along and help in whatever way they can. Whilst our brilliant facilities team have been working incredibly hard during the close season, meaning there aren’t too many big jobs to handle, there are certainly lots of small jobs to do. From clearing up around the Pavilion’s, to ensuring inside is clean and tidy, to putting the covers back on, plus lots more!

There is lots to do to ensure our Club is looking the part for 2025.

If you come along on the day and unsure what to do, speak to Charles Baines or Barry White who will give you a task to get hold of. If you are able to bring some cleaning products, by all means do so and get stuck in to cleaning inside! Even if its just for a couple of hours, your help is important to the club.

As an extra incentive – anybody needing to get a Player Photo taken for the new season, Richard Gadsby will be there from 9am until around 11 or just after – so if you’re coming, perhaps bring your Sawley top and spare 5 minutes to sort that, before getting into the task in-hand afterwards.

Player Sponsorships have been coming through thick and fast – we have over 20 confirmed now – so those who have managed to get one – you owe it to your sponsor to make sure you have a photo for the new season. Also, could as many First Team Players please try to spare a few minutes for photographs – as you guys are the main faces of our Club!

Finally, if that wasn’t enough to get you in the mood for 2025, there’s more to come!

Thanks to Akhil Avasthy, we are holding a Poker Bonanza Evening to mark the end of another productive Poker series. Starting from 6.30pm, ready for a 7pm start, would as many members please try to make the event, as it really helps the club.

Akhil has passed on the following message for all you Poker players; " Everyone is welcome, please bring your friends… We’ll be looking at 3 tables, so first come first served for the first 30 participants. Last years top prize winner collected just over £500! – it could be you this year!"
